| Principles for those
in Business: A set of Principles, drawn from a Christian
perspective, has been drawn up by CABE and formally endorsed by
member Stephen Green, Chairman of HSBC. It was published and launched
in 2006 at a reception hosted by Lord Griffiths of Fforestfach,
a longstanding CABE member and Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs International.
It is intended to be used both as a devotional aid, possibly daily,
and more widely as a statement of Christian values in the business
world. A pdf version of the Principles may accessed directly
as follows:

Copies of the document may be obtained at
50p each via the website www.principlesforthoseinbusiness.com
Related to these stated Principles, a project has been initiated
to investigate the implications of managing an SME (Small to Medium-sized
Enterprise) from a Christian viewpoint, and we are looking to local
explorations to obtain relevant feedback from practitioners. Anyone
interested should get in touch with Jackie McMillan at jackiemcmillan@onetel.com
Faith in Business Quarterly: CABE has
made a grant supporting the ‘Faith in Business’ journal,
recognising the valuable contribution made by this publication to
faith/work issues. CABE members are encouraged
to subscribe to FiBQ and to offer written material for publication.
Further information may be obtained from Rev’d Dr Richard
Higginson, Ridley Hall, Cambridge, CB3 9HG.
Supper Fellowship: For four years
CABE members and friends have developed a vigorous
supper fellowship, based upon their shared interests and concerns
as Christian executives in the world of business. After a short
presentation on a chosen topic, there is a lively discussion round
the table. The evenings last from 7.15 to 9.00 pm and are held quarterly.
Enquiries should be made to the Chairman or Stanley Kiaer, e-mail

Christian Input to Business Practice:
Explorations on this topic commenced in September 2004. It is planned
that a series of invitation only seminars will be mounted during
2005/06 to review, as appropriate, specific business issues and
the relevance of a Christian approach in these situations. Different
business issues will be considered, and the relevance of Christian
principles and virtues explored accordingly. There will be two lead
speakers at each of these seminars, to be held at Ridley Hall, Cambridge.
Anyone interested in participating in these seminars should contact
Clive Wright at clive.wright6@btopenworld.com
for further details.
