Who We Are

What does CABE offer?

We can express the CABE offering in many ways; this attempts to look at it from the point of view of a potential member, wherever they are in their business or Christian journey.

1. Insight
CABE provides insight through its papers and articles that challenge us with a firm Christian perspective. The CABE Principles are a moral compass in the economy, helping leaders to instil appropriate values in individuals and teams. We pray that this, together with mentoring and networks, will enable Christian leaders to be confident and effective, demonstrating integrity in action.

2. Inspiration
CABE provides inspiration through events and networking opportunities where Christian leaders share their journey and experiences openly and realistically. CABE aims to offer focussed support to encourage Christians leading at all levels and across all sectors of the economy including a limited mentoring programme that can link experienced leaders with those making their way.

3. Influence
CABE provides influence as we bring a Christian voice to the main issues of the economy. We stand alongside Christians in leadership as they build a platform as well as providing material/stimulus to established leaders in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Whom does CABE serve?

CABE is distinctive in its support from very senior business leaders and academics; with a membership and network.
We aim to organise:

- Opportunities for senior leaders to share their experiences, build friendship and support / reference for each other;
- Events in which thought leaders from church and business can convey their insights and experiences to those following them;
- Papers and talks which can provide reference points and inspire;
- Partnership with Christian groups who have aligned missions.

Why Would I Join CABE?

Some suggestions:

- Because I need a foundation in the application of my faith; CABE provides and signposts a way to find this;
- Because I am willing to share with the next generation my experiences and what became a firm foundation for me;
- Because being a Christian in a leading management position can be lonely and challenging; I need to know that others share the walk and to complement what I get from church;
- Because I am willing to pool an investment in making a directed Christian stand with likeminded people.

An analogy - a “Professional Body”

We can see some parallels that CABE can act as the “professional body” for Christians in business and the economy, whilst being realistic about the scale at which we can operate:

- Commitment to defining and raising standards for the “profession” (promoting CABE, participating – events, initiatives…)
- Code of conduct, ethics standards (Statement of Faith; CABE Principles);
- Continuous professional development (through attendance at events, mentoring, training?);
- Demonstrated experience/ Type of role (leader/aspiring leader in the economy?);
- Development of resources and leadership;
- Network to provide mutual support;
- Entry requirements; open only to those who continue to meet them (membership contribution, code of conduct etc. as above)

We hope that CABE can provide some of this for many Christians in business and the wider economy and some will contribute time, talent, energy and finance in developing it. We may have to fine-tune this idea, whilst being welcoming and increasing our membership.
