CHAIRMAN, DEPUTIES AND TREASURER

John Ripley (Chair), worked for Unilever for 35 years, with various assignments in the UK, Netherlands, where he was involved with many developing markets, culminating in roles as Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Development. He now has a portfolio of roles, including chair of CABI (not-for-profit organisation, owned by 46 member countries, specialising in scientific publishing, research and communication); he is also governor of Kingston University. John has served for 9 years as a secondary school governor and is supporting other schools with a challenge to raise their performance. With his wife Anne, he has been a member of Bookham Baptist Church for over 25 years, with varying roles. He is chair of the Church Mission Society and trustee of Feba Radio.

Christina Rees (Deputy Chair), is a writer and broadcaster, contributing to many national newspapers and journals, as well as to television and radio programmes, including Thought for the Day on BBC Radio 4. Christina is a Partner of Media Maxima and Director of The Churchfield Trust. She is an elected member of the General Synod of the Church of England and the Archbishops' Council. She is also Chair of WATCH (Women and the Church) and WOM (Women on the Move) and Vice-Chair of It Takes One Woman, a grant-making body for Anglican women in the developing world.

John Kay, (Treasurer) is Director of Change Management in Transforming Business at the University of Cambridge. He studied Natural Sciences and Management Studies at Cambridge University before working in the early implementations of IT in ICI and Shell, then joining PA Consulting Group where he developed innovative approaches to implementing IT for managers and professionals. With experience now spanning more than 30 years, he is an expert on high performance organisations, delivering sustainable change, coaching business leaders and optimising intellectual and human capital. His recent work has concentrated on the leadership of participative change and management situations. He returned to the Lord in 2004 and worships at Banstead Baptist Church - and loves the spirituality of choral evensong.


OTHER TRUSTEES

Nick Gazard is co-founder and Chief Executive of freshSPRING, a social enterprise providing website design, hosting and graphics to small business, churches and charity throughout the UK. Working with Internet design since 1998 Nick has also spent a year in Uganda with Africa Inland Mission, worked as a manager in Tesco, in various fundraising and communications roles for charity and a trustee developing an umbrella charity to support and grow community projects. He is an active member of evangelical City Gates Church as a community leader in South East London. He is working on a number of long-term projects alongside freshSPRING, particularly in the sphere of charitable giving, but most importantly enjoying being a new father.

David Henderson
 is now an independent mentor and coach, having recently retired from IBM Global Business Services where he ran IBM’s Technology Strategy consulting practice in northern Europe. Previously a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), he oversaw the integration of 2,000 consultants into a single business unit after the merger between Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand to create PwC in 1998. He then led PwC's global Technology Strategy consulting practice. David is currently collaborating with the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity & the ‘Fresh Expressions’ initiative of the Church of England, researching developments on Christian presence & impact in the workplace. He is a consultant on the Willesden Area Ministerial Review Scheme within the Church of England, and serves as an elected Area Synod representative. Married to Anna with two adult children, he part lives in Pinner where he worships at Emmanuel Northwood, and part lives in Dorset where he worships at Lady St Mary’s in Wareham. With Anna he has been responsible for marriage preparation & marriage encouragement in his local church.

Richard Higginson Lecturer in Ethics and Leadership at Ridley Hall Theological College, Cambridge since 1989. Formerly lecturer at St John’s College Durham. Director of Studies at Ridley Hall. Director of the Faith in Business project, a unique resource for relating Christian faith to the business world which integrates the areas of faith, values and leadership. The project has run over 50 conferences and seminars addressing topical business issues from a Christian perspective. Co-editor of the quarterly journal Faith in Business. Author of several books, including Called to Account, Transforming Leadership and Questions of Business Life; co-author of the recent Grove booklet The Ethics of Executive Pay. From 2004-2011 he was Associate Minister at St Philip's & St Stephen's Church, Cambridge; formerly a Reader (lay preacher) in the Church of England. Married to Felicity, a teacher, with five children aged from 18 to 29.

Ralph Hollinghurst joined Mobil Oil Corporation in 1959 with degrees in Chemistry from Keble College Oxford. He initially worked in International Research & Development on fuels & lubricants, based in the UK and USA, and later became Strategic & Marketing Planning Manager, advising the UK Board on Investments. Ralph worked as Manager Supply & Trading for the UK, and Western Hemisphere Products based in the USA, before being appointed GM Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) & Director Mobil Trading Supply Ltd in 1988, with global responsibility for supply, trading and business development. After early retirement in 1995, he worked as an International LPG Consultant. An active Christian at Parish & Deanery level, including developing vision statements & church objectives, he has a Bishop’s Certificate in Theology. Now a London Club Rotarian, involved in charitable projects including a developmental one in Africa to celebrate the club’s Centenary, and attendance officer for the club. Ralph is part of a small CABE team developing a pilot Christian Mentoring programme to help support young executives develop their careers along ethical lines.

DIRECTOR and ADMINISTRATOR

Pauline Hart has recently joined CABE as Director.  She worked in Local Government for 31 years, mainly for Ipswich Borough Council where she led on the delivery of the Affordable Housing programme.  Now studying for a MA in Mission and the World of Work through Cliff College she is an active member of St Andrews, Alresford in Essex.  She is currently developing a short course for Workplace Groups to challenge them to think about fostering discipleship in the workplace and on a dissertation asking whether chaplaincy can provide missional leadership in the World of Work.

Jayne Payne (CABE's Administrator and Membership Secretary), works for Transform Work UK who provide a valuable administration service to CABE.
